Our Masks for Heroes volunteers have provided 31,601 front line workers with cloth masks since March 21st. When we first started, we thought 10,000 cloth masks were the most we might be able to accomplish. But, with all of us working together, sharing fabric, elastic, templates, and experiences with each other, we have tripled that number!
Thank you for supporting our front line heroes as we continue to volunteer through this pandemic together. We currently have 4,268 requests for cloth masks from front line workers across the country on our spreadsheet. These front line heroes are medical professionals, prison workers, child care workers, agencies serving adults with disabilities, caregivers for children with cancer, senior living facility workers, grocery store workers, manufacturing employees, county jail staff, police officers, members of our military, veterinarian employees, and pharmacy workers.
We are grateful for all of the groups from around the country who are coming together to make masks and share them in their local communities and with people in other states. Some of the groups we are honored to be working with include Masks for Mandy, the Fuquay-Varina Junior Woman’s Club, Charlotte Mask Marauders, RVA Masks 4 Health, Sew There Quilts and More, Our Lady of La Vang Church, and Ash Creek Baptist Church Mask Makers.
And for fun, I created a map to show where our cloth masks have been going across the country. This map includes all the data we had as of April 30, 2020.
